About Hyeseon Hong Jazz Orchestra
This project features the latest compositions by composer Hyeseon Hong with plans to record in the works. The music centers around the theme of Memoirs, with lush harmonies painting atmospheric landscapes. Filled with remembrance, reverence and joy, Hyeseon’s music creates a powerful experience for the listener as well as for the musicians performing her music.
Hyeseon Hong is an accomplished composer, arranger and pianist working extensively in both New York City and Seoul, Korea. She is adept in many different genres of music including jazz, pop, rock, r&b, musical theater, and film composition.
Hailing from Seoul, Ms. Hong spent a lot of time leading projects on both sides of the Pacific. But for the past decade has called NYC her home where she pursues her passion for big band writing.
In 2017 Ms. Hong released her first big band jazz album on the Summit record label entitled “Ee Ya Gi” to great acclaim. Featuring Ingrid Jensen and Rich Perry, Hyeseon’s music fuses together elements of Korean folk music with modern jazz harmonies orchestrated for a jazz orchestra.
Her band is planning to head back into the studio before the end of the year with new music to be released in 2022.
